Is Your Bar Prepared For The Christmas Period?

The festive season is the busiest time of the year for businesses in the hospitability and catering industry, Christmas parties, work-dos and family get-togethers all contribute to the increase in profits during the festive period, in particular with a rise in drinks sales.  After all, ‘tis the season to be jolly!

Last year an uplift in like-for-like sales in the pub and restaurant industry was reported for Christmas 2014 – 2.8% up on 2013. Planning ahead for this increase in customers is key to a successful festive season and a great start for the New Year.

The run up to Christmas can be the best time to invest in new products as businesses can have the confidence that an increase in customer trade will soon show a return on any investments. Fridges need to survive the toughest conditions behind extremely busy bars at this time of year.

Serge Kremer, CEO at Husky, says: “November is always our busiest time of year. As a refrigeration company the product that contributes to an influx in sales during this time of year is our Back Bar Chiller. This is because pub owners and event hosts need to ensure their fridges have maximum capacity over Christmas and can constantly offer chilled drinks.

“Robust products like our back bar range are great as they are designed with re-enforced hinges and self-closing doors, so staff can work efficiently and drinks are chilled to the optimum drinking temperature.”

Kremer also advises investing in new products before the busy period in November: “Purchasing new products months before Christmas will mean your staff have enough time to get used to any new products and to be briefed on how they work. It will also improve the appearance of your bar, impressing any customers ahead of Christmas.”

Businesses can maximise profits by managing the restocking of fridges to cater for the increase in customers. Re-stocking fridges regularly will mean beverages can be offered at the optimum drinking temperature. Investing in back of house fridges will also mean businesses can keep up with the increased demand for drinks.

Kremer said: “Following these tips and equipping your bar with reliable equipment like the Husky Back Bar Chiller will give businesses the ability to keep up with the Christmas demand and take new customers into the New Year!”
